Your chance for stable kidney values and less inflammation

At the German Oral Health Foundation (DMS), we want to accompany you on your journey to a healthier, fitter life. Personalised prevention using functional biomarkers such as aMMP-8 plays a key role in this. Identifying hidden sources of inflammation in the body is particularly important for people with existing kidney disease. This helps to prevent additional strain on kidney function.
Lassen Sie daher jetzt Ihren aMMP-8-Wert testen – in Ihrer Facharztpraxis und in jedem zahnmedizinischen OralFitness® Center.

The aMMP-8 saliva screening

The aMMP-8 saliva screening measures the destruction of the extracellular matrix¹ and collagenolysis² in real time. Collagen is the most common structural protein in the human body. It strengthens the oral immune barrier by giving the oral mucosa structure and stability, thus making it more difficult for pathogens to penetrate. Damage to the oral mucosa allows inflammation and pathogens to enter the bloodstream, promoting systemic diseases. This is why prevention is so effective.

How does the aMMP-8 test benefit me as a kidney patient?

When should the test be performed?

  • in chronic renal failure (stage 3 onwards) for the early detection of silent inflammation, as this exacerbates systemic inflammatory responses in the body, increases CRP and IL-6 levels and accelerates the loss of kidney function.
  • In dialysis patients, because dry mucous membranes, weakened immune systems and poor oral hygiene often lead to silent inflammation. This can promote cardiovascular complications, anaemia or what is known as MIA syndrome (malnutrition-inflammation-atherosclerosis).
  • Before a kidney transplant, it is particularly important that there is no inflammation. Undetected oral infections can increase the risk of post-operative complications or rejection reactions.
  • in cases of persistently elevated CRP or unclear signs of inflammation
  • as part of routine nephrological check-ups for preventive inflammation control

How does the test work?

The aMMP-8 test is quick, painless and does not require a blood sample. It is simply a saliva test – convenient and simple, carried out at the specialist's surgery. If the results are abnormal, a referral to a dentist is recommended. The test opens up new perspectives for interdisciplinary, personalised inflammatory medicine.
