SCIENCE AND RESEARCH
Actively shaping health & prevention together
Our drive: oral-systemic health and oral fitness
Inflammatory diseases in the oral cavity affect over 40% of the population, making it a real common ailment. Science shows that diseases such as diabetes mellitus, chronic heart disease, rheumatism and even infertility are closely related to inflammation in the oral cavity. The insidious thing about it is that it usually goes unnoticed until tooth or implant loss is imminent.

THE SENATE
For future makers
The Senate - shaping the future of oral-systemic dentistry.
The Health Senate in the German Oral Health Foundation forms an excellent network of leading experts from dentistry, medicine, dental hygiene, science, business, professional associations and practices far beyond the borders of Germany. The Senate thus offers a platform for exchange without particular interests, promotes science and works on sustainable concepts for prevention-oriented, holistic dentistry.

Function & Mission of the Senate
Oral health is an area still neglected in medicine, which is a core topic of prevention of holistic health and multicausal effects.
The focus of the health senates in the DMS is not solely fixed on dentistry, it is a holistic view to be set, the essential goal of which is to keep the body healthy. This significantly curbs and prevents an appreciable number of systemic diseases.
The Health Senate represents a socially relevant task because attention to and research on goal-oriented prevention strikes at the heart of broad health care.
The Senate is strictly public interest oriented; representation of particular interests is not the scope or objective.
What committees does the foundation consist of?
THE BOARD
The Executive Board is responsible for the operational management of the Foundation. Supported by the scientific advisory board, it develops concepts, strategies and goals of the foundation.
THE ADVISORY BOARD OF EXPERTS
DMS works closely with experts from various fields. These include not only physicians, but also health policy makers, insurers and corporate health management.
THE SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD
The Scientific Advisory Board advises the Board of Directors of the (DMS) Oral Health Foundation on current issues and the implementation of scientific projects.
The messengers of oral health
Oral health ambassadors help raise public awareness of oral-systemic health through regional campaigns.
How to become an ambassador?
The ambassadors are proposed by other ambassadors to the scientific advisory board or the expert advisory board. The submitted applications are reviewed by at least two members of the Scientific Advisory Board and/or the Expert Advisory Board. Upon approval by the members, the applicant will receive the appointment as an Oral Health Ambassador and a certificate to that effect. A prerequisite for appointment as an ambassador is membership in the DMS Health Senate.
